Our current dip inventory includes the flavors above. Each dip mix makes 2 cups, you can divide the package in 1/2 and make just 1 cup at a time. To make just combine 2 of your favorite flavors - the standard recipe calls for 1 cup mayonnaise and 1 cup if sour cream but you can substitute cream cheese, plain yogurt or double of the four. The flavor is best when you let it sit and blend overnight.
The exceptions to the recipe above include the Cranberry Orange fruit dip and the salad dressings. Cranberry Orange is combined with 1 cup of marshmellow fluff, 1 bar of cream cheese and then thin with sour cream to the desired consistency. The fruit dip is great not only on fruit but pound cake or any sweet breakfast bread.
The salad dressing mixes do double duty as a marinade. The Chipotle Lime Vinigrette can be mixed with vinegar - or lime juice and some olive oil - marinate your choice of meat, turning often. Remember not to marinate seafood long - the acids will break down the fish or seafood at a fast rate- leave on just for 5 minutes or so, or baste with the marinade while it cooks for an even more intense flavor.
There are always great things to do with left over dip, see below for some of my favorite tips.
Dips & Marinades
Twice Baked Potatoes
Pierce 2 Idaho potatoes with a fork, and microwave until done. Let cool, cut in 1/2 and scoop out potato leaving the shell intact. Mix potato with 1/3 cup dip and 2 slices of cheese. Restuff potato and cook in toaster oven till heated slightly browned.
Black Beans and Rice
Black Beans and Rice
Rinse uncooked black beans till water runs clear. Place in crock pot, totally cover with water or stock and add contents of Yummy Onion Dip. Slow cook for at least 2 days till beans are desired consistency. You may need to add extra liquid - water , stock or beer. You can totally speed up the process by using canned black beans and heating overnight.
Chipotle Marinade for Fish
Chipotle Marinade for Fish
Use dip as prepared for a spicey twist of grilled fish or chicken. It works best when made with mayonnaise and sour cream. Spread dip over meat and grill till done. Be sure to coat both sides!
